Normally there are two Kidneys in Human body. They are of bean shape and usually fist size. They are placed one on either side of the spine, below the ribcage.
They remove waste material (toxins) and extra water from the blood to form urine. Urine flows from kidneys to the urinary bladder via tube like structure called ureters.
By this, Kidneys keep the body free of waste & maintains the electrolyte balance. They also helps in play major role in maintaining bone health and optimum hemoglobin level.
The Kidneys produce a filtrate of about 180 liters per day of which about 2 to 3 liters are passed as urine.
